Esta muestra de artes mediales es el resultado de un proyecto de investigación iniciado en 2016 por la artista Michelle-Marie Letelier, donde explora relaciones trans-hemisféricas, específicamente con el manejo de recursos naturales marinos, haciendo énfasis en la salmonicultura y los fenómenos de intervención geopolítica del paisaje marino.
Mediante obras basadas en película de 16mm, realidad virtual y muestras de especímenes conservados a través de procedimientos científicos, la exposición reflexiona desde la filosofía y la bioética sobre el significado de manipular e introducir a otro hemisferio una especie tan importante ancestralmente como el salmón, planteando reflexiones sobre el origen de nuestra propia especie.
Michelle-Marie Letelier (Rancagua, 1977) es artista visual, licenciada en Artes en la Universidad Católica de Chile, con estudios en Diseño de Medios experimentales en Universität der Künste y en Goldrausch Künstlerinnenprojekt Art IT, ambos en Berlín, Alemania. Su cuerpo de obra aborda el estudio de lugares sometidos a la explotación de recursos naturales y en la relación de estos espacios con sus contextos históricos, siendo el proceso de entierro del campamento minero de Chuquicamata, donde vivió su adolescencia, un momento crucial en el desarrollo de su práctica. Michelle-Marie vive y trabaja en Berlín, Alemania.

This media arts exhibition is the result of a research project initiated in 2016 by the artist Michelle-Marie Letelier, where she explores trans-hemispheric relationships, specifically with the management of marine natural resources, emphasizing salmon farming and geopolitical intervention phenomena upon the seascape.
Through works developed on 16mm film, virtual reality and samples of specimens preserved through scientific procedures, the exhibition reflects from philosophy and bioethics upon the meaning of manipulating and introducing to another hemisphere a species as ancestrally important as salmon, proposing reflections on the origin of our own species.
Michelle-Marie Letelier (Rancagua, 1977) is a visual artist with a degree in Arts from the Universidad Católica de Chile, with studies in Experimental Media Design at the Universität der Künste and at Goldrausch Künstlerinnenprojekt Art IT, both in Berlin, Germany. Her body of work deals with the study of places subjected to the exploitation of natural resources and in the relationship of these spaces with their historical contexts, being the burial process of the Chuquicamata mining camp, where she lived during her adolescence, a crucial moment in the development of her practice. Michelle-Marie lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
